Sustainable Production

  • Compostable products are designed to break down into natural elements in a compost environment, leaving no toxicity in the soil. This makes them a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional, non-biodegradable products.

  • Material Selection: Common materials include polylactic acid (PLA), which is derived from fermented plant starch (usually corn), and other plant-based polymers. Natural fibers such as bamboo, wood, or sugarcane bagasse are also popular.

    Molding: The biodegradable material is then molded into the desired shape. This can be done using various methods:

    Injection Molding: Used for producing cutlery, where molten bioplastic is injected into molds.

    Thermoforming: Commonly used for making cups, this process involves heating a plastic sheet until it's pliable, then stretching it into a mold.

    Press Molding: Used for items made from natural fibers, where the pulp is pressed into molds and then dried.

    Cooling and Finishing: After molding, the items are cooled and any excess material is trimmed away. They may undergo additional finishing processes, such as polishing or coating with a thin layer of bioplastic to make them waterproof.

    Quality Control: Products are tested for durability, biodegradability, and safety for food contact.

    Packaging: Finally, the biodegradable cups and cutlery are packaged, often in materials that are also eco-friendly, and then distributed.
